Job Description:
Sr. Engineer, Control Systems Software for Howmedica Osteonics
Corporation d/b/a Stryker Orthopaedics in Fort Lauderdale, FL to perform
control algorithm and software design, development and testing work
utilizing proportional integral derivative (PID) and state space real-time
control system design methodology and best practices for robotics
related R&D projects (5%). Perform controls engineering tasks for R&D
projects (5%). Lead engineering testing at both the subsystem and system level
(5%). Work with project management, test engineers, and quality engineers
on the execution of product verification and validation (5%). Work with
the "Phase 0" (concept development) team to research and test innovative
control methodologies for surgical robotic systems (10%). Develop
MATLAB simulations and programming of proposed control methodologies
to demonstrate viability and identify potential improvements and
optimizations (10%). Distil proof-of-concept work into detailed functional
descriptions for use by the broader development team (5%). Develop new
manipulator and actuator designs in close coordination with the
electro-mechanical engineering team (10%). Develop kinematic an dynamic modelling
of robotic arm using Matlab and Simulink (10%). Perform software
development and implement control algorithms in close coordination with the
software engineering team (30%). Domestic and international travel for
project design meetings, supplier meetings, and professional meetings
(5%). Requires: Master's degree or foreign education equivalent in
Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering plus two (2) years of
experience performing controls engineering in R&D projects. Specific
skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirements not
applicable to this section): utilizing proportional integral derivative (PID) and
state space based real-time control system design methodology and best
practices and performing MATLAB and Simulink programming and control
