Immediate need for experienced transplant OR nurses with Misonix/CUSA and Epic skills. Job Details - Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse opportunity / Florida travel nursing) - Location: Weston, FL 33331 (Broward County, South Florida) - Facility: Short-Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital - Unit: Operating Room – Transplant (18 OR rooms; adult & geriatric population; daily census 55–60) - Start Date: April 6, 2026 - End Date: July 6, 2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - Shift: Days, 3 x 12-hour shifts (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM) - Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed) - On-Call: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend call shifts per month - Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 – $2,010 - Charting / EMR: Epic - Scrub Color: Ceil Blue - Parking: Free in any unrestricted space Job Requirements (Transplant OR RN / Perioperative Nurse) - Experience: Minimum 2 years direct liver/transplant OR RN experience required (must include liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant implant experience; procurement-only not sufficient) - Transplant Expertise: Experience implanting organs across solid-organ transplant cases - Technical Skills: Proficient with Misonix / CUSA and standard OR equipment - Certifications: ACLS and BLS required at submission; NIHSS must be obtained prior to start - License: Active RN license required (pending license accepted for travel nurses) - Compliance: Nicotine-free (negative 10-panel nicotine/cotinine drug screen required) - Pre-Employment Testing: EKG and pharmacology tests during orientation (maximum 2 attempts each) - References: Two references from direct supervisor/manager or unit leadership - Vaccines: COVID-19 and flu required (medical/religious exemptions only) - Training Modules: Complete pre-start and annual modules (6–15 hours, time-sensitive) - Traveler & Local Candidates: First-time travelers accepted; local RNs accepted at same rate Responsibilities (Operating Room / Transplant Nurse) - Provide perioperative nursing care for solid-organ transplant surgeries (liver, heart, lung, kidney) - Scrub and/or circulate per assignment, maintaining sterile technique and surgical safety protocols (Universal Protocol / time-out) - Anticipate surgeon needs and coordinate effectively with anesthesia and interdisciplinary surgical teams - Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain OR equipment including ultrasonic surgical aspiration systems (Misonix/CUSA) - Ensure accurate specimen handling, infection prevention, and adherence to sterile field practices - Document intraoperative care and events clearly and timely in Epic EMR - Float within scope to support perioperative service needs; assist in orienting and training students and new staff - Participate in on-call rotation and provide coverage for transplant cases as needed Why Weston, FL / Location Benefits Weston offers a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere with beautiful parks, top-rated schools, and easy access to South Florida beaches and cultural attractions.
